Skincare Loyalty.
Thanks to working in the beauty industry, I am blessed to have access to lots of products. From low end to high end, unless a product doesn’t match my skin color, skin type/hair type, or gives me a bad reaction, best believe I’m using every last bit of it. Because I am still using up what I have and despite having tons of recommendations, I truthfully haven’t felt loyal to too many products…products that I would continue to purchase on my own.
However, when it comes to skincare, I am loyal to Differin® Gel. It is the one skincare product that I have continuously purchased for the past few years. Adapalene, the active ingredient in Differin® Gel, treats acne deep in the pores at the source, prevents new acne from forming and, as a result of reduced acne, restores your skin's natural texture and tone.
I was first introduced to Differin® Gel when I was in high school and my doctor gave me samples to treat my hormonal breakouts. It worked and I never used it again. Fast forward to 2016, Differin made headlines when it became the first and only OTC topical retinoid acne treatment. I was then reminded just how great this stuff was when I received it in an industry event gift bag. Since entering Differin into my skincare routine, I have not used any other chemical peel or retinoid. I apply just a pea size amount to my entire face, avoiding the eyes and lips, every single night. Literally, a pea size amount. Anything more than that will irritate the skin. While I don’t have acne, Differin has kept my monthly hormonal breakouts away (for the most part) and has significantly improved the overall texture and tone of my skin.
To put it into perspective, I’ve ditched my most coveted tinted moisturizer because I just don’t need the coverage. On days that I feel like I need a little something something, I reach for my NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in St. Moritz or my Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter in 4. More on these two products in a future post.
I’m clearly not a dermatologist or skincare expert, so please do your own research. This is just what has worked for me.
The best part of all of this? It retails for $29.99 at my local Walgreens.
